Kuan Yin is the Bodhisattva of Compassion, "he who hears the cries of the world" and is known as Guan Yin or Kuan Shi Yin (Guanshiyin) in Mandarin, Kun Yum in Cantonese, Kannon in Japanese, and Avalokitesvara in Sanskrit.
