Unlike most bronzes this is not a hollow cast, and weighs an astonishing 32 pounds at 16.5 inches (42cm). Beautiful face of a calm Buddha with high chignon. Gautama Buddha gestures with the powerful ani-i-in mudra of Amida Buddha, signifying the descent of Amida to earth to seek the lost souls of the dead. In this gesture, Shakyamuni affirms the compassionate power of the cosmic Buddhas. This mudra signifies the spiritual link of lower life (life on earth) and higher life (the Buddhas). Very old and in perfect condition.
