Stunning three hundred year old Shakyamuni Buddha, the Historical Buddha Gautama, seated on the lotus throne. This amazing bronze stands 29 inches tall and 30 inches wide and looks down with the most beautiful of faces. This is a temple Buddha, distinguished by high chignon, calm reflective features and flawless bronze surfaces. Gautama Buddha gestures with the classic Bhumisparsa mudra (Goma-in in Japan, Chudi Yin in China), the 'touching of the earth.' This pose reveals Buddha under the tree of Enlightenment, taking the Earth as his witness. He had solved the problem of the cessation of suffering as he sat under the pipal tree at Bodh-Gaya. This is a very old, perfectly preserved temple Buddha.
