Early Ming Guanshiyin
Our special love of the compassionate Bodhisattva led to the discovery of this very early Ming Guan Yin. Over three feet tall, exquisitely detailed, this temple statue is the best in our collection. We have held this in our private collection, reserved from sale, and continue to enjoy the gentle smiling face of Guanshiyin. The hard wood carving is acclimatized and in excellent condition and the color pigments are in good condition for 700 years of age. Guanshiyin is also called Guan Yin or Kuan Yin in China, Kannon in Japan and Avalokitesvara in Sanskrit (Tibet).
